Steering Box/Steering Shaft Issues

I recently helped LazyGuy swap a steering column into his '75 J10 with a column from a '77 Wagoneer. We decided on trying the steering shaft from the Wagoneer due to the rag joint being in much better shape; however, when I went to install it the clamp at the steering box on the steering shaft was too small? Has anyone come across this? Is there a size difference in the shaft coming out of the steering box, or can you just spread the clamp open?

I believe the columns from 76-79 were all the same, and 75-down was the break.
