Driver's seat lean

Mine is a 1982 Wagoneer Limited. The driver's seat back leans back on the right side. I have seen this in photos of other Waggies and was curious, since this seems to be common, why the seat does this. I have only seen this on the driver's side so must assume that since it is used the most something has worn out, bent, etc. in the seat structure or adjusting mechanism.
Any thoughts, experiences, solutions, fixes?

It probably needs to have the cover taken off and then have the bracket that is broken re-welded.
