my wagon is a 1986, i have just bought a 1989 gmc suburban with the 5.7tbi, 700r4. plan to swap the drivetrain, i do have a np229 t-case to replace the np228. or should i look for a gm t-case and eliminate the novak addapter? if so what t-case will work and what will be the mods to the linkage to make it work correctly. this is going to be a daily driver and has to be WIFE friendly.

If you like the 228 or 229, then keep it. Many people like it for inclement weather driving as opposed to other types of tcases.

A GM NP242 would let you keep an all-wheel drive option as well as 2wd and 4wd.
