  • Intake manifold gasket R&R

I have been problem solving my vacuum leaks and so far I have rebuilt the motorcraft carb-2bbl, replaced vacuum hoses and now it seems it is the intake gasket that is bad.

Do I need to remove all the belt driven accessories to remove the intake manifold? How long is this R&R normally take?

you will need to remove the a/c, but the rest should be fine in place. R&R, including cleaning, scraping, draining radiator coolant to below intake level, etc., I would say plan on spending 2-3 hours of your time. Could be less, could be more depending on your level. For reinstallation, I recommend getting some threaded rod that matches the bolts, and use that to slide the gasket down on, and the intake manifold. That way it keeps it even and straight going on (acts as a firm guide)
