  • Rear Window Diagnostic Help

Hey guys. I've read through the posts on rear window problems and I have an idea of what I need to do to get my window working again but I'm a little confused about the wiring/testing situation. I have several unplugged wires behind the access panel on the tailgate. On the left is a three prong wire with purple/orange/peach/peach wires going into it. Then next to that is a single prong peach wire. On the right is one brown/tan two prong wire, another brown/brown two prong wire, and then a yellow/black two prong wire that looks like it leads to the motor. Which ones do I test w/ a battery? This is on an '82 Wagoneer.
    Thanks.

Brown-Brown is the safety switch; brown-tan should be power to the key switch in the tailgate. Yellow-black should be power from the switch to the motor. purple/orange/peach I believe is the defrost. You can get your wiring diagram online at www.oljeep.com and see the routing.
