  • Passenger side drop t-case

I found a matched set of axles out of a J20 for under $200. The next problem is I have an '88 Wagoneer with a driver side drop t-case and need a passenger side drop to put behind my TF727. I would really rather stay away from the full time and vacuum actuated t-cases. Any suggestions?

    Thanks again guys!

    A Dana 300 is a bolt-on to your TF727.

What am I likely to find one of those under?

If the J20 front is passenger drop, then it's a 1979 or earlier. For the D300 as Brent says it bolts directly to the TF727 without special adapters, etc. If using with a passenger-side front axle, you'll either have to slightly clock the tcase, or possibly modify the floorboard a bit depending on how you run it (as 1980-up floors had bump-outs in different spots), and you'll need to modify your transmission tunnel to accommodate the shifter set-up (btw, go twin-stick). If you choose to run the D300 with a driver-drop front axle, you can bolt it on upside down (clocked 180-degrees out) and use a cable-shift set-up.

does it matter what transmission was in the CJ or do they all have the same spline count and bolt pattern?
