BJ’s Off-Road Rocker Panel Protective Sliders
    Installation Instructions

We highly recommend the removal of the fuel tank during the installation procedure. It actually contacts the frame on the driver’s side of the vehicle and the last thing you want to do is make a hole in it. It should be removed and you should carefully note where it does and does not contact the frame.

Some of you are going to want to weld your sliders onto the frame. Here’s what we have to say about this option: ITS ILLEGAL. $1000 fine courtesy of the federal government, DOT specifically. Yes, I know, you’ve seen it time and again in <insert favorite 4 wheel drive magazine here>. Doesn’t make a bit of difference, we can’t condone it. That said, we’re sure some of you are going to do it anyhow. If you do, the above warning about removing the fuel tank goes double to you. We’ve seen the result of someone welding them on without removing the fuel tank. It’s a melted fuel tank. Thank goodness the tank was full when he did and the fuel kept the plastic cool enough so that it didn’t completely melt through or I suspect he wouldn’t have been around to show it to us.

We’ve supplied two different styles of mounting hardware: 1/2” grade 8 bolts and 3/8” self-tapping bolts. The self tapping bolts are for those areas of the frame that are boxed and you can’t reach, though sometimes with a little creativity and a skinny hand, you can still reach in there. To use the self-tapping bolts, drill a 5/16” pilot hole and then screw them in with an impact with a 9/16” socket and by pushing very hard.

The rest is easy: position them, clamp them fast, and drill the corresponding holes. The rear most mounting plate attaches to the metal flange that is attached to the rear spring hanger. This flange already has one 1/2” hole in it. Drill a hole to match it and then a second hole down from it to secure this mount.
