1983 Cherokee AMC360 oil pressure / gauge

Hello there are you all, my AMC 360 has been running fine but now my old oil pressure gauge seems to drop down almost to zero when driving at 55. I have a full crank case of oil, no blue smoke, no white smoke but something just doesn't feel right. how do I confirm I got oil pressure if this gauge is at fault?? It seems the wiring harness at the sending unit is very old and stiff

Did you do any work on it recently? Pop off the oil pump cover? sounds like maybe your oil pump gear housing may be worn.
